The Acts of the Apostles

The book of Acts is in some sense a sequel to the gospel of Luke as it is written by the same author and continues where Luke left off.  In the beginning of the book, we find that Christ spent a short period of time with His apostles giving them instructions concerning the kingdom of God before ascending into Heaven.  The early chapters give us information about the persecution the early church was under by apostate Judaism.  But the persecution only served to strengthen and embolden the believers to carry out the mission the Lord had given them to go into all the world and preach the gospel.

We will be encouraged as we witness the Holy Spirit adding new believers to the church daily, and calling men to continue the work of carrying the gospel to the uttermost parts of the earth.  We will see how the Apostles were able to take the Old Testament scriptures and reveal more about God’s plan of redemption for the ages and His coming judgment upon the apostate Jews of the early decades of the First Century.

So take time to listen and glean the blessing of this blessed book that exemplifies how our Lord Jesus Christ inspired our ancient church elders to spread the gospel into the uttermost parts of the world. Amen!
