The Christian’s Job Description
While in the military, it was my duty at times to develop and to write certain types of job descriptions for each duty section under my supervision. These descriptions outlined the duties, the responsibilities, and the expectations I had for those who worked under my command.
In the life of a Christian, God the Father and His Son our Lord Jesus Christ, have provided some clear pictures (i.e. descriptions) of what a real Christian is to be, not only in his profession but also in his daily living.
In today’s world of tolerance at any expense and political correctness, even the term “Christian” has been watered down to the point whereby the line of demarcation between the saint and the sinner is no longer just blurred—it has been completely removed! In this series of messages, which actually is an expanded treatment of “A Proper View of Biblical Conversion” (from the Nine Marks of a Healthy Church series), we consider the Christian as he is portrayed by St. Paul as a boxer, a wrestler, a runner and a soldier.
In each job description, we will find our duties, our responsibilities and our God-required outcomes. My hope and prayer is that the words of this new series may find a home in your heart, resulting in your growth and advancement in the graces of your Christian life.
