Gleanings from the Nativity
December 25th has been designated the day to commemorate the day when Jesus of Nazareth was born in Bethlehem Israel. That date may be an official holiday on our calendars, but it is not the actual birth date of the Savior of the world.
Many people have taken this originally pagan holiday and prostituted it by beginning
the “holiday season” with “Black Friday” (the day following Thanksgiving) in which
people find it more appealing to sleep outside of stores for hours in order to purchase

In the Nativity Gleanings, we attempt to focus our attention on all the key players who surround the birth of the Christ Child. Some characters offer examples of true biblical submission to the will and Word of God; others demonstrate steadfast perseverance under trying circumstances, while still others show the consequences of doubting the Word of God.
Be willing to peel away the lights, the garland, and even jolly ole Saint Nick, and enjoy the true purpose and message of the Incarnation of the Son of God to Earth as our Glorious Savior!
Occasionally our congregation takes a break from the expositional preaching of the various series of messages as listed in our church archives, and we concentrate on a scriptural seasonal event. Such is the case in the Gleanings of the Nativity of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. There are also times in life that we should give a season of special Thanksgiving for the Gift and the Giver, and Sustainer of life. We praise our God for "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with Whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." James 1:17.
These scriptural events of our Lord’s birth had great significance of leading each of us to the privilege of obtaining eternal life, or being left in our sins and leading us to eternal death. If our Saviour had not been born and lived a sinless life, then been crucified to atone for our sins, we would not have any other means by which we could be saved. Our Lord’s birth and the events and persons that were present at that time all have an important story to reveal to us.
We must remember that Jesus Christ was not just a man, but He was totally God and man. Jesus Christ was God in the flesh Who ministered to the needs of humanity, to bring many to faith in Himself as their Savior, Lord and our promised Messiah. We will open these scriptural events and be blessed as we see how our God worked each of these episodes to His own will and good pleasure. So take time to listen to this short series of our Lord’s birth, and also be mindful to offer seasons of corporately giving special Thanksgiving to our great God for His special gift of His Son our Lord Jesus Christ. Each of these sermons will proclaim its own unique message for the edification and blessing to each of our souls.
