The
Book of Deuteronomy
Why
study the book of Deuteronomy? Why study an Old Testament book in
this age of the New Testament era? This may be a valid question in
the minds of many readers, but lets ask another question. When our
Lord Jesus Christ ministered on this earth and confronted the
religious leaders of His day, which scriptures did He refer to
most often? Do you known? Jesus confronted the Pharisees,
Sadducees, lawyers and all others with numerous quotes from the
book of Deuteronomy, more than any other book of the law. Have you
considered why Jesus the Christ used this particular Old Testament
book of the law to make so many confrontational jabs at so many
religious officials of that day? Christ did so because they
had departed from the truths of God's commandments and law, and
had added their own interpretations on what they felt was
important for them to over-control their entire society. {So
are many religious leaders in the days in which we live.] The
religious leaders had in-fact severely departed from the truth of
God's unchangeable laws and precepts, and had established another
gospel. Why do I say another gospel?
Because the gospel of God is His entire Word from Genesis
1:1 to the end of The Revelation of Jesus Christ, so take time to
listen and profit from these revealing messages on the Laws of
God.
Let’s
ask another question. Have not we Christians been warned
numerous times in the Holy Scriptures that we would be tempted, if
not lead into another or false gospel? Didn't Jesus, Paul,
Peter, James, Jude and John all warn us time and time again that
we must know and test the spirits? We are told to examine
ourselves to see if we are in the faith, and to be aware that in
the last days many would depart from the faith, and fall away. Yes
there is a form of godliness in our present day society, but many
deny the authority and practice thereof.
Although
we live in the Days of Grace, we are still subject to the
eternal word of God as Christians. It is true that we are
not under the law, but which law? All laws of God? To
believe and accept that would be plain folly! To be specific, the
sacrificial law has been abolished by the once and for all
sacrifice of Jesus Christ, when He died on the cross for the sins
of many. But have all of God's laws and commandments been
abolished? Are we free now to take another person’s life, to
take their property, to lie about them, to dishonor authority, to
commit sexual immorality, to take God's name in vain, to serve
other gods? If you believe we are completely free from the
Law of God, you are deceived, and must take time to examine
yourselves to see if you are truly in the faith that was once
delivered to the saints. Take time to listen to this entire
series on the Book of Deuteronomy. You will be surprised how
relevant and up to date this Old Testament book truly is, and how
it applies to your Christian conduct and behavior.
You will be informed how to live in a wicked world as a light
shinning in darkness!
Remember
this, God has shown us His kindness by giving us His written Word
and the Living Word, our Lord Jesus Christ. We will only profit by
knowing and understanding both. So - Listen - Enjoy -
Profit from the Hearing these messages of God's eternal Word
from this Book of Deuteronomy! Take your bible in hand and follow
along!
